ABOUT THE AREA

LES LANDES is a beautiful and largely unspoiled stretch of coastline on the Bay of Biscay between Bordeaux and Biarritz, just before France becomes Spain. The largest forest area in Europe, and a protected National Park, Les Landes also offers wide, endless sandy beaches and unbelievable skies, high sand dunes overlooking hundreds of miles of pine forest, dozens of large salt and freshwater lakes and of course the immense power and presence of the mighty Atlantic ocean. The dramatic backdrop of the nearby Pyrenees is also ever present, often featuring in Jonathan's photographs, and along with the beautiful towns of BIARRITZ and ST JEAN DE LUZ, are often visited during the photo safaris. The second major town of Les Landes , DAX, with its busy shopping centres, restaurants, Roman spas, mainline station (Paris, Bordeaux, Bayonne, Biarritz), hospital and all facilities is just 25 minutes away.
